Altea gets approval for Aer Soléir’s 1 GWh BESS in Piedmont, Italy
Rivoli-based developer Altea Green Power has announced Italy’s Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security has authorized a 250 MW BESS in the municipality of Rondissone in the Piedmont region.
“The project presented will be built near an electrical transformation station and will have electrical power, for injection and withdrawal, equal to 250 MW and a plant [energy storage] capacity equal to 1 GWh (four hours of operation),” AGP wrote.
The BESS was the part of an agreement signed in July 2022 with Irish group Aer Soléir for three plants, with the other two in Apulia, in Bari province.
“At the sites, already sold to Aer Soléir, Altea Green Power carries out all the necessary procedures to complete the authorization process up to the notice to proceed,” said Altea.
For the plant in the Rondissone, Altea has committed to reaching an agreement for environmental compensation with the municipality.
“The authorized project, whose overall value exceeds €18 million ($19 million), will produce cash flows … of approximately €17 million over the next 18 to 24 months,” added the developer.
Altea said it has a pipeline of Italian BESS “with a total capacity of approximately 1.7 GW, in advanced development and available for sale.”
Aer Soléir is affiliated with the US-based fund 547 Energy, which serves as the investment platform for Quantum Energy Partners.
