Indian state awards 700 MWh in undersubscribed battery tender

Indian state-owned utility the Karnataka Power Transmission Corp. Ltd has allocated 350 MW/700 MWh of BESS capacity to three bidders in an under-subscribed 500 MW/1 GWh battery tender.
The tender yielded the lowest price of INR 249,000 ($2,910) per MW of project capacity per month from Sarala Project Works, which secured its bid capacity of 50 MW/100 MWh at this price.
Pace Digitek and Oriana Power were allocated 250 MW/500 MWh and 50 MW/100 MWh, respectively, at a price of INR 254,000/MW/month.
The winning developers will implement BESS projects on a build, own, operate basis in the vicinity of selected substations across the state of Karnataka. The projects are eligible for central financial assistance in the form of viability gap funding.
