India’s GUVNL awards 1 GWh of standalone battery storage projects

State utility Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd (GUVNL) has allocated 1 GWh of standalone battery energy storage systems (BESS) under its Phase VI tender at an average tariff of $3,321.20 per megawatt (MW) of project nominal power per month.
Solarworld Energy Solutions and HG Infra Engineering emerged as the winning bidders to develop and operate large-scale BESS projects in the state of Gujarat.
Solarworld secured a 200 MW/400 MWh project at the lowest quoted tariff of $3,288.31/MW/month, while HG Infra Engineering will deploy the remaining 300 MW/600 MWh capacity at a tariff of $3,354/MW/month.
Both projects will be developed on a Build-Own-Operate (BOO) basis. The BESS facilities will be made available to GUVNL for charging and discharging on an ‘on-demand’ basis, supporting grid stability and renewable energy integration across the state.
