EcoFlow has announced a new power station range under its Delta 3 branding, with new products under the Delta 3 Max and Delta 3 Ultra branding, and the re-naming of the original model to the Delta 3 Classic. In total, five power stations are now available from EcoFlow in the higher-capacity Delta 3 range.

Max, Ultra, and Plus?

A new aspect is also “Plus” branding, with the moniker signifying that the Plus-branded models feature a new feature called “Smart Output Priority,” which lets users choose which devices stay powered as the battery begins to run down. Plus-branding also indicates that the base model capacity can be expanded via additional batteries.

The new top-of-the-line portable model is the Delta 3 Ultra Plus, with a 3 kWh capacity and a 3,600W output to supply heavier loads and multiple devices, or for extended periods without power. The Ultra Plus charges in a reported sub-50 minute timeframe, with the use of EcoFlow’s X-Stream Fast Charge tech. It supports six different charging methods including from solar, the grid, and a generator. It has 11 outlets and weighs about 33.7 kg.

The Delta 3 Ultra has the same capacity and power output, but without the Smart Output Priority. The non-Plus Ultra weighs 32.7 kg and drops the Anderson port outlet, to have 10 outlets.

Over on the Delta 3 Max Plus is a slightly lower capacity: the Max Plus offers a 2 kWh backup with 3000W output. EcoFlow claims it can power 99% of home appliances, and keep essentials running for up to three days and two nights. Like the Ultra Plus, it has Smart Output Priority, while it supports five charging options, and also charges in under 50 minutes. It weighs around 22.1 kilograms, with 10 outlets. It can support additional expandable batteries.

The non-Plus Delta 3 Max shares the 2 kWh capacity and 3000W output but skips the smart priority features. It also weighs less at around 20.3 kg and has one less outlet port, and can not support additional expandable batteries.

Completing the new line-up is the Delta 3 Classic. This has been refreshed while also getting a rebrand from the old “Delta 3 Plus” name, and it sticks with the cost-effective 1 kWh capacity, 1800W output (with 3600W surge available).

EcoFlow says the new Delta 3 series feature automotive-grade full-tab lithium iron phosphate or LFP cells as their chemistry, offering 27% fewer cells per kWh compared to EcoFlow’s previous LFP cell options.

Pricing and availability

All Delta 3 batteries are available from September 29 in the USA and Canada, with various promotions for pre-orders. (EcoFlow said it will have sales updates about wider product availability outside of these regions “soon”).

In the US, the Delta 3 Ultra Plus ($2,899) and DELTA 3 Max Plus ($1,899) will be available for purchase starting Sept. 29 on the EcoFlow website. Promotions for the Plus models will run through Oct. 12, offering $1,300 off the Ultra Plus, $800 off the Max Plus, plus free gifts with every purchase.

For the non-Plus models, the Delta 3 Ultra ($2,499) and Delta 3 Max ($1,499) will be available for pre-order starting Sept. 29.

The base-model Delta 3 Classic ($599) will be available for purchase starting Sept. 28 on TikTok, and starting Sept. 29 on the EcoFlow website. A promotion running on the TikTok platform is said to offer $200 off the Classic.

Eco Flow has re-conditioned units on E-Bay but when I bought one I only chose the “EcoFlow Certified” ones since some others could be scams. I had a power outage for only an hour, but it was long enough to run my Samsung Bespoke refrigerator/freezer, and it worked fine on my Eco Flow 3 plus unit. The Uninterruptable Power supply feature is great, and I can also use Solar panels to charge and run the unit since it can be charging while running appliances. My reconditioned 1.5-Kilowatt hour lithium phosphate internal battery 1800-watt output unit with 220 watts of foldable portable solar cost only $704.00. The 500-watt, MPPT charge controller for solar is built in and the plug in 1500-watt max charge rate on AC utility power gets the unit back in standby mode fast.
