Advait Energy Transitions Ltd. (AETL), through its subsidiary Advait BESS Bhesaan, has signed a battery energy storage purchase agreement (BESPA) with Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd. (GUVNL) for a 150 MW/300 MWh standalone battery energy storage system (BESS) project in Gujarat.

The company secured the project through GUVNL’s competitive tender process under Phase VIII, which includes support from a government viability gap funding program.

The project will be developed near the 220 kV Bhesan AIS substation operated by Gujarat Energy Transmission Corp. (GETCO) and is intended to provide dispatchable energy storage capacity to support the state’s power system.

Under the agreement, Advait BESS Bhesaan will develop, own, and operate the project and make the contracted storage capacity available to GUVNL. The BESPA has a term of 12 years from the date of signing.

Vatsal Kundalia, director of operations at Advait Energy Transitions, said the project marks an important step in the company’s efforts to expand its energy storage portfolio and support grid flexibility and renewable energy integration.

The project expands Advait Energy Transitions’ activities in energy storage alongside its operations in transmission infrastructure, green hydrogen, renewable energy integration, and related energy technologies.
