Indian utility signs contracts for 335 MW/670 MWh of battery storage
Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd (GUVNL) has signed purchase agreements for 335 MW/670 MWh of battery energy storage system (BESS) capacity under its Phase VIII BESS procurement auction.
India’s GUVNL has signed battery energy storage purchase agreements with Advait Energy Transitions for 150 MW/300 MWh of BESS capacity, Equentia Energy Bellatrix for 65 MW/130 MWh, and Sun Drops Energia for 120 MW/240 MWh.
The contracts have been awarded to Advait Energy Transitions, which secured 150 MW/300 MWh of capacity, Equentia Energy Bellatrix (65 MW/130 MWh), and Sun Drops Energia (120 MW/240 MWh).
With the latest agreements, GUVNL’s contracted battery storage portfolio has reached 2,730 MW/5,460 MWh. Based on two charge-discharge cycles per day, the portfolio can provide up to 10,920 MWh of daily energy storage services.

Voltwise: Extend German grid fee exemption for large batteries to 2034
Germany's Federal Network Agency is consulting on a proposed overhaul of its grid fees to introduce a General Grid-Fee System (AgNES). Battery energy storage systems (BESS) are currently exempt from the charges and Voltwise's head of German operations, Thorsten Klöpper, is suggesting a three-stage system which takes account of battery-related grid benefits.
