Voltalia secures 322 MW grid connection for data centers in Brazil
Voltalia has signed a 322 MW transmission network use agreement (CUST) with Brazil’s national grid operator, enabling the company to supply future data center developments at the Port of Pecém. The company said it plans to develop dedicated renewable energy projects, primarily wind power, to serve the facilities.
The agreement forms part of Voltalia’s strategy to expand into digital infrastructure projects with large electricity demand, particularly data centers, a sector that has seen rapid growth in recent years.
Voltalia said it is in advanced discussions with several data center operators and intends to develop renewable energy assets dedicated to supplying reliable, low-carbon electricity to the facilities.
Located in Ceará state, the Pecém industrial and logistics complex offers available land, existing infrastructure, and access to the transmission network, making it a potential location for large-scale digital infrastructure projects.
Voltalia CEO Robert Klein said the agreement supports the company’s expansion in Brazil’s fast-growing data center market. He added that Pecém combines industrial and logistics infrastructure with access to high-quality renewable energy resources and secured grid connectivity, positioning the region to support large-scale, energy-intensive projects.
