DMEGC-ESS unveils DC-coupled off-grid energy storage system

DMEGC-ESS has launched a modular off-grid battery storage system based on lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cells, offering capacities from 10 kWh to more than 60 kWh and operating in DC coupling.

DMEGC-ESS has introduced a new energy storage system designed for off-grid applications. The system is built around lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO₄) battery technology and is intended for standalone installations rather than grid-tied use.

It operates in DC coupling, meaning it connects directly to solar PV generation on the direct current side. This setup avoids intermediate conversion between DC and alternating current (AC), which the company says helps reduce energy losses during charging and discharging.

The system uses a modular architecture with an integrated energy management system (EMS). Depending on configuration, it can provide storage capacities ranging from 10 kWh to more than 60 kWh.

On the electrical side, the product is available in both single-phase and three-phase versions. It also offers an asymmetric output capability of up to 150% of rated power, intended to handle short-duration load peaks such as motor start-ups without oversizing the full system.

While DC coupling can improve efficiency by reducing conversion steps, overall system performance depends on compatibility with the photovoltaic inverter setup used in a given installation.

The company notes that LiFePO₄ chemistry is already widely used in the storage sector. It positions the integration of an EMS in a compact modular system as a key feature for off-grid projects requiring autonomous energy management. The system is currently being rolled out in the French market.
