Sungrow Renewables and ID Energy Group are advancing three battery energy storage system (BESS) projects totaling 171.5 MW/726.4 MWh near the Vall d’Uixó 220 kV substation in Spain’s Castellón province.

ID Energy Group is developing the ALM Julben Solar and ALM Vadux Solar projects, which are undergoing environmental assessment after securing grid access and connection permits in 2024. Located south of the Vall d’Uixó substation, the lithium-ion battery installations will occupy about 20,000 square meters.

ALM Julben Solar is planned with 61 MW/264 MWh and 96 battery containers, while ALM Vadux Solar will provide 55 MW/242 MWh using 88 battery containers. Together, the two projects will total 116 MW/506 MWh.

The developments complement BESS Cuevas, a 55 MW/220 MWh project being developed by Sungrow Renewables. The project received a favorable environmental impact declaration in 2025 and is progressing toward preliminary construction and development approvals.

The three projects will share part of their grid connection infrastructure through a common collector substation linked to the Vall d’Uixó 220 kV transmission node, with BESS Cuevas serving as the central evacuation hub for the complex.
