Navvion assesses plans for BESS factory in Brazil

US-based Navvion Energy Storage Systems is evaluating the feasibility of setting up a battery energy storage system (BESS) manufacturing plant in Brazil.

Navvion Energy Storage Systems has begun discussions with Brazilian governments, universities, research institutions, and industrial partners to assess the feasibility of establishing a BESS manufacturing facility in the country.

The New York-based company said the meetings aim to evaluate industrial, logistical, and regulatory conditions across different states, while identifying opportunities for technology development and workforce training to support Brazil’s growing energy storage market.

Navvion said Brazil could become one of Latin America’s leading energy storage markets due to its industrial base, renewable energy resources, rising electricity demand, and efforts to modernize the power grid.

During its visit to Mato Grosso, the company donated a NavvionZERO residential energy storage system to the Federal University of Mato Grosso (UFMT). The system includes 16.1 kWh of storage capacity and a 10 kW integrated hybrid inverter and will be used for research, laboratory testing, compliance studies, and grid integration research.

The company said the donation is also intended to support technical training and prepare professionals for the expanding energy storage sector.
