Nadara closes €1.2 billion refinancing to support storage expansion

European renewable energy producer Nadara has completed a €1.2 billion ($1.4 billion) refinancing covering 1.5 GW of operating wind and solar assets across seven countries, with the new financing platform intended to support repowering, hybrid projects and battery energy storage.

European independent power producer Nadara has completed a €1.2 billion refinancing covering a portfolio of 47 operating renewable energy assets totaling 1.5 GW across seven European countries.

The refinancing includes 34 onshore wind farms and 13 solar power plants in France, Italy, the United Kingdom, Spain, Sweden, Norway and Finland. Nadara said it is one of the largest cross-border renewable asset refinancing transactions completed in Europe this year.

The company said the new financing platform will provide greater flexibility to fund the repowering of existing assets, the development of hybrid renewable energy projects and the deployment of battery energy storage systems.

Nadara was created in 2024 through the merger of Renantis, formerly Falck Renewables, and Ventient Energy, both backed by infrastructure funds managed by JPMorgan Asset Management.

The transaction was financed by a syndicate of 15 international commercial banks. Crédit Agricole CIB acted as both a lender and co-financial adviser to Nadara alongside Santander, while Société Générale also participated in the financing.
