Electrovaya unveils 7 MW containerized battery system targeting AI data centers

Lithium-ion technology company Electrovaya has launched the ElvaPulse 1500, a 7 MW containerized battery energy storage system engineered with a high C-rate to handle the rapid-discharge, high-surge power demands of AI data centers and mission-critical facilities.

Lithium-ion technology company Electrovaya has launched the ElvaPulse 1500, a high-power stationary battery energy storage system designed for data centers, artificial intelligence infrastructure, and mission-critical power applications.

The launch marks the debut product under Electrovaya’s new ElvaPulse stationary storage portfolio, engineered specifically to handle high-surge, rapid-discharge power requirements driven by volatile AI compute workloads.

Housed in a standard 20-foot modular container, the 1,500 VDC architecture delivers up to 2.88 MWh of nominal energy capacity and can supply approximately 7 MW of continuous power. The unit is built around the company’s proprietary ceramic separator technology that underpins its Infinity Battery line.

The battery unit operates at a discharge duration of under 30 minutes, representing a C-rate greater than 2C. Electrovaya states this high power density allows facilities to reduce physical site footprints and cut balance-of-system costs compared to standard 2- to 4-hour utility-scale storage profiles.

The platform targets microgrids, peak-demand management, industrial power quality, and renewable energy firming in addition to hyperscale data centers. 

Electrovaya Chief Executive Officer Raj DasGupta said the platform was purpose-built to meet pushing energy demands by offering high power density alongside proven battery longevity and configuration flexibility.

Initial commercial deliveries are targeted for the second quarter of 2027 out of Electrovaya’s manufacturing facility in Jamestown, New York. Certification processes for UL 1973 and UL 9540 are currently underway with completion targeted for the first quarter of 2027, and the company is currently accepting production reservations while engaging in active discussions with hyperscale and energy developers.
