China’s battery boom pivoting from scale to utilization, says Ember
China's battery storage sector is shifting from mandate-driven expansion toward a more market-driven phase as the country targets 300 GW of new energy storage by 2030, according to a new report from energy think tank Ember.

Battery storage costs up 27% since 2020, says Lazard
The levelized cost of storage (LCOS) for a 100 MW, four-hour battery energy storage system (BESS) has risen to approximately $210/MWh to $292/MWh, according to a new Lazard report, which also found that storage costs overall have increased by roughly 27% since 2020.

Plans for BESS assembly plant in Nigeria
RIPLEnergy Company has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with GIB EnergyX Slovakia s.r.o. to co-develop an assembly plant in Nigeria. The new plant should supply Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) in support of RIPLE’s Renewable Energy investments to supply commercial and industrial demand for 24/7 electricity.
Global Battery Alliance launches Battery Passport pilots
The Global Battery Alliance (GBA) has just launched the second wave of its Battery Passport pilots, which includes 11 pilot consortia. This second wave will establish the Minimum Viable Product of the GBA Battery Passport with a product-level ESG (Environment, Social, Governance) score.
