Project Applications ESS News

The global pipeline of energy storage projects is growing rapidly across a variety of market segments, including distributed, grid-scale, off-grid and second-life projects.

From increasing solar self-consumption, reducing consumption peaks, providing flexibility to the electricity system, to deferring costly investments in transmission and distribution infrastructure, the range of applications which energy storage devices can provide is constantly evolving.

To build a robust business case, however, most storage facilities need to provide several services.

When heat becomes a stress test: What extreme temperatures mean for photovoltaic systems and battery storage Photovoltaics rely on sunlight. Battery storage systems rely on absorbing and releasing energy precisely when the power grid needs it. Both sound like an ideal combination for hot summer days: plenty of sunshine, high generation, increased electricity demand due to cooling, and greater grid flexibility. In practice, it's more complex.
