Madrid-based Enertis Applus has announced completion of technical due diligence for two Chilean battery projects, both of which recently reached financial close.

The Domeyko project, led by Verano Energy, features 83 MW of solar generation and a 300 MW/660 MWh BESS. It secured $204 million of finance last month.

A second, 446 MW/3.5 GWh BESS – associated with Grenergy’s Elena solar plant – last week secured a $270 million finance agreement. That site is part of the Oasis de Atacama project which will feature nearly 11 GWh of battery capacity and almost 2 GW of solar.

Enertis Applus said it has prepared technical due diligence reports for the projects – including environmental, and financial studies; in addition to verifying compliance with standards and quality codes and identifying potential technical and economic risks.

With the portfolio now closed, the company has reached financial close on 2.7 GW/11.9 GWh of BESS and has a 4.4 GW/15 GWh fleet in advanced stages of financing. Notable previous projects include Atlas Renewable Energy’s 200 MW/800 MWh BESS del Desierto standalone system, which is also in Chile.

Enertis Applus says it has had a permanent office in Chile since 2012 and has been operating in the country since 1998, in sectors such as renewables, infrastructure, mining, and energy.
