Colombia drafts rules for 5 MW+ batteries
Colombia's Energy and Gas Regulatory Commission (CREG) has published a draft resolution establishing technical, commercial, and tariff conditions for battery energy storage systems (BESS) with a minimum capacity of 5 MW. The rules would also set a project guarantee requirement of developers equivalent to 20% of a project's estimated value, as calculated by the Mining-Energy Planning Unit (UPME).

Chile moves on storage to ‘decarbonize the night’

Argentina’s oversubscribed BESS tender draws record-low bids
The Argentine Energy Secretariat has received significantly more bids than expected for its public call to install large-scale battery energy storage systems (BESS) in the Buenos Aires metropolitan area (AMBA). Although the tender aimed for 500 MW, the AlmaGBA procurement drew proposals totaling 1,347 MW on the back of highly competitive pricing and strong industry interest.
