‘UK heat pumps require massive energy storage fleet’
Researchers in the United Kingdom estimate around 175 TWh of hydrogen and compressed air energy storage (CAES) capacity will be needed to fully decarbonize heating in the country. Researcher Bruno Cardenas told pv magazine when domestic heat demand is fully electrified, average annual electricity demand and peak load in the grid will be 26% and 70% higher than current levels, respectively.

UK grid connection overhaul to fast-track shovel-ready energy storage and renewables sites
Regulator Ofgem's new system will see energy storage and renewables projects that meet land and planning requirements receive firm grid connection dates as 'Gate 2' sites.
