Kinell, a brand of the engineering group Fétis Group, has announced the launch of its battery energy storage systems (BESS) business for the European market. Based in Nantes, the company is partnering with the US group POWR2 to provide mobile storage technology.

The new offering targets temporary power supply for events, construction sites, and remote locations in Germany and France. The solution is designed to work alongside diesel generators to reduce fuel consumption or to replace or hybridize them by combining batteries with on-site renewable energy sources.

Kinell is building on expertise developed within GeniWatt, a Fétis entity that has conducted pilot storage projects in recent years, and formalized its partnership with POWR2 in 2024. Rather than developing proprietary technology, Kinell will act as the official distributor and service partner of POWR2 in Europe, focusing on deployment and integration.

The launched range features modular systems covering a power range from 15 kVA to 300 kVA, with storage capacities from 60 kWh to 600 kWh. Designed to be silent and emission-free, the units can be connected together to increase power or autonomy as required on site. Each system integrates an energy management system (EMS) for remote monitoring, control, and data analysis, allowing operators to track real-time consumption, fuel savings, and emissions, and facilitating environmental reporting. The EMS also supports direct integration of renewable energy sources, such as photovoltaic panels or wind turbines, to maximize local self-consumption.

Hudson Nunn, Vice President of POWR2, said: “Europe is a strategic market for mobile and hybrid energy storage. Our partnership with Kinell ensures deployment supported by strong local expertise, extensive service capabilities, and a deep understanding of market expectations.”

John Hegarty, Head of Energy at Kinell, added that the new offering leverages Fétis Group’s forty years of experience in the construction energy sector, enabling the company to support customers with the technical integration and reliable operation of these hybrid systems.
