Nuvve and Omnia partner on 75 MWh BESS project in Sweden as part of new pipeline
Nuuve, the former V2G specialist pushing into the world of utility-scale energy storage, and headquartered in San Diego, has partnered with Swiss-based investment firm Omnia Global to develop more than 1 GW of battery energy storage system (BESS) projects across Europe over the next two years, starting with a 50 MW / 75 MWh BESS located in Sweden.
Nuvve also secured exclusive rights to support Omnia’s existing BESS developments and a right of first refusal to acquire ownership stakes in future projects within the pipeline.
The first project in Sweden is scheduled to begin operations in Q2 2026. Under the partnership, Nuvve will own and manage the asset and provide full market access services, which includes optimization across ancillary services and energy trading. The company stated that they expect the project will deliver incremental revenues from Q2 2026 as the first batteries come online.
Nuvve said current market conditions across its target European regions support potential revenues of €240,000–€300,000 per MW per year. CEO Gregory Poilasne further added that “the partnership represents a significant revenue opportunity spread across a pipeline exceeding 1GW, positioning Nuvve as a leading global provider of grid-scale energy storage.”
ESS News has previously spoken with Poilasne about the company’s rapid shift and expansion into the BESS market, with the executive keen to use the company’s expertise learned in V2G operations in large-scale batteries and markets.
The companies said Sweden was attractive both for its climate goals, increasing electrification, and need for flexible storage, with a “supportive regulatory frameworks and market structures” further enhancing the commercial aspects of BESS assets.
Omnia Global CEO and chairman Daniel Hansen praised Nuvve’s ability to provide a large scale roll out.
“We see Nuvve as a uniquely fitting partner to efficiently project manage and execute the roll-out of our pipeline utilizing Nuvve’s unique load balancing software and years of experience in BESS from the early days of the market. The European market has high arbitrage opportunities for fast movers and with the partnership of Nuvve we have found a partner that efficiently and comfortably can look at a large scale roll out with the most experienced team of its sector,” Hansen said.
