AVL partners with Sumitomo in bid for Western Australia’s 500 MWh vanadium battery project

Gigawatt-hour scale long-duration energy storage (LDES) project is expected to reduce curtailment in Xinjiang, a region of China with high solar and wind generation, and transmission bottlenecks. The flow battery installation is co-located with a PV plant.

Sembcorp to expand Southeast Asia’s biggest battery storage site
Built across two sites on Jurong Island, Sembcorp's lithium ion battery storage system will now be expanded to 311 MWh. Meanwhile, Singapore's Energy Market Authority (EMA) has awarded grants to local sodium-ion and vanadium-flow specialists in a bid to enhance grid stability, also via underground system deployment.

VRB Energy plans 550 MW capacity across US, China via JV and restructuring
VRB Energy, which has aimed to mainstream vanadium redox flow batteries, has formed a joint venture with Red Sun in China to build more factories, taking a 49% stake in the venture that is constructing two large-scale facilities.
ESS Inc, ESI partner on 3.2 GWh iron flow battery manufaturing site in Australia
Under construction long-duration storage manufacturing site secures AUD 65 million ($45 million) in public and private funds, including AUD 25 million from state government. ESS Inc confirms to ESS News it has ambitions to manufacture in Europe.
