Expion360 starts shipping residential LFP batteries to integration partner
Expion360 has announced that it has begun distribution of its e360 Home Energy Storage Solutions (HESS), a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery.
The company, headquarted in Redmond, Oregon is fulfilling purchase orders to integration partner Wellspring Solar, which has been part of HESS pilot program, testing, and system development. Wellspring has locations in the Midwest of the United States.
While the announcement didn’t reveal full specifications, the batteries are designed for off-grid use in an expandable, DC-linked expandable approach.
The rack-mounted batteries utilize 5.12 kWh 100 Ah Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery cells. A vertical 4-rack slot can accommodate four batteries, providing approximately 20 kWh of energy storage. Each battery is reinforced with fiberglass infusion and additional considerations for ensuring safety and performance.
“These order deliveries will reflect a significant milestone in bringing the e360 HESS to market in partnership with Wellspring Solar, our trusted integration partner,” said Brian Schaffner, CEO of Expion360.
“We believe the HESS product line will benefit from a fast-growing battery energy storage market, and consumer uptake can rapidly scale with the introduction of products that improve price, flexibility, and integration.
Schaffner added: “We also anticipate HESS will benefit from incentives available through California’s Self-Generation Incentive Program and federal tax credits available through the Inflation Reduction Act for home battery systems. We look forward to working closely with Wellspring for additional orders in 2025.”
