Jinko ESS Micro-grid Solution Helps a Remote Chicken Farm in the Middle East Optimize Its Power Structure, Reduced Diesel Consumption by 93%

JinkoSolar, the global leading PV and ESS supplier, successfully deployed a 250kW/645kWh liquid-cooling microgrid energy storage system for a remote chicken farm in the Middle East.

By integrating PV, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and diesel generators, the system reduced the daily operation time of diesel generators from 24 hours to just 1.5 hours, reducing diesel consumption by 93% and and supplying over 300 days of clean energy annually. This project aims to address energy challenges in off-grid areas and accelerate the transition to efficient, low-carbon power solutions.

Located in a remote region with no access to the public grid, the chicken farm previously relied entirely on diesel generators, leading to high operational costs, significant environmental impact, and unstable electricity supply. To address these challenges, Jinko ESS implemented an AC-coupled microgrid system, integrating a 645kWh SunGiga storage cabinet with a 180kW solar system and diesel backup. Using an intelligent dispatch strategy, the system prioritizes solar power, only engaging the diesel generator when battery reserves are low. This setup has reduced generator runtime by 93%, dramatically lowering operating expenses while ensuring reliable power supply for farm operations. The system is designed to operate for more than 10 years, providing long-term energy stability.

At the core of the system is Jinko ESS SunGiga energy storage cabinet, which features advanced liquid-cooling technology, multi-tier safety protection, and intelligent energy management. The system optimizes thermal control, maintaining a cell temperature difference within 2°C, significantly improving battery lifespan and efficiency with minimal energy consumption of just 4kW. A state-of-the-art fire suppression system, incorporating aerosol extinguishers and real-time smoke and temperature detection, enhances safety. The integrated Power Conversion System (PCS) houses a 250kW inverter, ensuring seamless switching between grid-following and grid-forming modes to maintain stable load power supply.
