Gresham House reaches 1 GW operational BESS in the UK
Gresham House Energy Storage Fund (GRID) has deployed 1 GWh of operational battery energy storage system (BESS) capacity in the United Kingdom.
In a press release published on the London Stock Exchange, Gresham House announced that the energization of its 87 MW/174 MWh in West Bradford combined with its 40 MW/80 MWh Shilton Lane BESS near Glasgow, energized in July, pushed the fund’s portfolio beyond the 1 GW mark. Gresham House Energy Storage Fund now has a 1,072 MW/1,701MWh portfolio in the United Kingdom.
GRID fund manager Ben and managing director of Gresham House New Energy said: “We are delighted to have completed construction of the portfolio and passed the 1GW mark of operational capacity. We now look to carry forward this momentum into the rest of the year and focus on building the next phase of augmentations and new pipeline projects.”
Achieving the power output milestone follows GRID reaching 1 GWh of storage capacity in early July, following the augmentation of two projects to 50 MW/100 MWh each. The fund’s Enderby and West Didsbury sites were upgraded from 1-hour to 2-hour duration, adding 100 MWh operational capacity. They were the second and third augmentation projects completed as part of a broader upgrade program planned by GRID. A further four augmentation projects are expected to add 220 MWh of total capacity when complete.
The GRID Fund reached the 1 GWh milestone back in July, 2024.
