Huawei Digital Power, Huawei’s unit focused on energy solutions and digital infrastructure, has established a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with SECPower to expand the commercialization of energy storage systems in batteries (BESS) in Brazil.

The objective of the partnership is to accelerate the adoption of these technologies in several areas, including trade, industry, agriculture and critical infrastructure, following the growing regulatory advance and the transformations of the electricity sector in the country.

“Energy storage systems are fundamental to the energy transition, both in Brazil and globally,” said Roberto Valer, Chief Technology Officer, Huawei Digital Power, Brazil, adding that the partnership with SECPower reinforces Huawei Digital Power’s “strategy of offering high-tech, security and performance solutions throughout the entire project lifecycle.”

Valer highlighted that Huawei aims to boost energy efficiency, sustainability and safety in the Brazilian electrical system.

SECPower, recognized for its expertise in engineering specialized in energy generation and storage projects, is expanding its technological portfolio with the partnership. Maria Gabriella Reigada, CEO of SECPower, highlighted the strategic importance of the agreement. “We are seeking a long-term, high-reliability technology partner, offering systems with a service life of more than 20 years. SECPower’s strength lies in engineering and deep understanding of applications, and with Huawei, we will strengthen the market sustainably,” said Reigada.

The partnership takes place at a decisive moment for the Brazilian electricity sector, following a new law that introduced an hourly competitive mechanism, perfected power guidelines and expanded incentives for energy storage. “Storage will become increasingly crucial to the modernization of the electrical matrix and to ensure the efficiency and reliability of the system,” said the CEO of SECPower.

For Huawei, BESS systems extend the reach of integrators, enabling the provision of complete energy efficiency solutions, security in supply and flexibility in energy use. Guilherme Prym, director of C&I BESS at Huawei Digital Technologies, explained: “Storage opens up new opportunities beyond solar generation, offering greater return on investment, energy security, energy quality and flexibility to integrate renewable sources into the electrical system.”
