Entrix to optimize 5.2 GWh of Greenvolt’s Polish batteries
Gemany’s Entrix has secured a major deal with Greenvolt Power, the renewable energy development arm of Portugal’s Greenvolt Group, to optimize and trade a portfolio of 1.3 GW/5.2 GWh of battery storage assets in Poland.
The deal covers five large-scale projects, with the first two already under construction and are expected to go live in the first half of 2026. No additional details about the projects have been disclosed.
Greenvolt holds a sizable renewable energy pipeline in Poland led by battery storage, comprising 730 MW of wind power, 1,878 MW of solar PV, and 2,712 MW of BESS capacity. In total, the company has 13.2 GW of projects in its pipeline, of which energy storage accounts for 4.3 GW – a figure expected to rise further following a recent €150 million capital injection from investment firm KKR.
Greenvolt’s growing presence in Poland’s battery storage market has made headlines. In December 2023 capacity auction, the company emerged as the top winner, securing 1.2 GW of capacity across six BESS projects. This represented more than 70% of the total BESS capacity awarded in the procurement.
Earlier this year, Greenvolt also signed a major agreement with BYD Energy Storage to develop and operate two standalone BESS projects – each rated at 200 MW/800 MWh – both of which are supported by 17-year capacity payment contracts.
The new multi-year agreement with Entrix marks arguably the largest deal of its kind to date in the country. Under the agreement, Entrix’s AI-driven trading solution will manage optimization across all relevant energy markets, including balancing services such as Frequency Containment Reserve (FCR) and Automatic Frequency Restoration Reserve (aFRR), as well as day-ahead and intraday trading.
“This agreement expands our operational footprint in Poland and enables us to actively shape one of Europe’s fastest-growing BESS markets. As a pioneer in the Polish battery market, we can engage with future asset owners early on, begin prequalification, and accelerate the path to go-live and revenue capture – especially in the ancillary services,” said Steffen Schülzchen, founder and CEO of Entrix.
With this portfolio, Entrix now manages over 2 GW and 7 GWh of BESS capacity in Europe.
Poland’s energy storage market has emerged as one of Europe’s most attractive in 2025, driven by positive market dynamics. According to a Clean Horizon report, the opening of Poland’s ancillary services market in December 2024 resulted in annualized revenues for utility-scale storage ranging from €208,000/MW to €305,000/MW.
