Swiss startup’s subscription model offers lifetime guarantee for second-life batteries
Switzerland startup Evolium Technologies' subscription-based business model offers residential battery owners a lifetime guarantee on second life batteries. The startup tests and remotely monitors each battery cell so it can alert customers when a cell is under-performing.
Switzerland’s behind-the-meter storage still beats utility-scale at 1.5 GWh, new installations up 90%
Swiss households, farms, and businesses have installed 400% more behind-the-meter storage over the past four years, according to Swissolar's Battery Monitor Switzerland 2026, a first comprehensive study on just how many storage units are in use.
Why Rhythm Energy turned to Origin’s Kinergy for its Texas VPP ambitions
In a first for North America, the Texas retailer is entering home battery aggregation, using Origin's Kinergy platform that comes out of Australia, along with interoperability specialist Intertrust. Co-founder Matthew Tolliver explains the choices, why residential batteries are the starting point, and the still strong friction in scaling VPPs.
How on-site batteries are fast-tracking data center grid connections
Battery energy storage systems (BESS) are already regularly deployed in uninterruptible power supply (UPS) applications for data centers, but current market conditions are now driving new deployment needs and strategies. Blathnaid O’Dea hears from industry insiders about increasingly popular approaches like bring your own capacity (BYOC) and flexible grid connections (FGC), and why batteries can provide services beyond speed to power that gas turbines can’t.
