Investing in BESS in Europe: From market hurdles to C&I opportunities
Energy services group Elevion, a subsidiary of Czech utility ČEZ, has several hundred million euros available for investment, with a significant share potentially earmarked for battery energy storage projects across Europe. Germany sets energy storage capacity record in 2025 despite fewer new systems
More than 2.2 million energy storage systems have now been installed in Germany, with around 526,000 new systems added in 2025 – around one quarter of the total fleet. Small-scale energy storage continues to dominate new additions, but the number of projects in the planning phase suggests large-scale storage could be set for significant growth.
