Grenergy wants to continue to grow in Germany with large-scale storage and solar
In 2022, Grenergy announced that it would enter the German market in 2023 and have at least 3 GW in the pipeline by 2025. The Spanish company specializes in the construction and management of photovoltaic and storage projects. As Grenergy announced on Nov. 5, 2024, its solar project pipeline in Germany now includes 1.2 GW, mainly in Saxony, Brandenburg, and Lower Saxony. In addition, more than 15 Grenergy battery storage projects are under development across Germany and more are being planned.
Tobias Greb, managing director and country manager for Grenergy, said the company sees strong growth in the German market. The aim is to further increase its commitment in Germany and to expand. Grenergy now has offices in Berlin and Hanover and more than 20 employees. This local presence is complemented by the company’s extensive global experience, with Grenergy having built more than 80 solar projects in Europe, the USA, and Latin America.
Grenergy has a global portfolio of 15.9 GW of solar and 21.7 GWh of battery storage. In Latin America, the company is implementing the world’s largest battery project: the Oasis de Atacama will have a storage capacity of around 11 GWh. That project also includes two GW of solar generation capacity.
The Spanish developer says its European project pipeline includes 5.2 GW of solar and 4.7 GWh of battery energy storage. In the first half of 2024, the company’s earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization rose by 43%, to €31 million ($33.8 million).
