Belgian clean power developer Energy Solutions Group (ESG) has announced it has completed the project finance for the 75 MW/300 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) it is constructing in the southern Belgian region of Wallonia.

The site, at Harmignies, in the municipality of Mons, will host 82 Tesla Megapack 2XL batteries and is set to be operational by late September 2025.

A statement about the project finance, published on ESG’s LinkedIn social media profile, said the project is near to a substation operated by Elia, Belgium’s electricity transmission system operator.

ESG chief technology officer Frederik Jansen named Spie, Yuso, Sweco, and House of Projects as project partners, Loyens&Loeff as legal adviser, KBC Bank as senior loan provider and Wallonie Entreprendre as junior loan provider.

The social media post also mentioned the support of ESG shareholders Patronale Life, Alpha, and SFPIM in backing the business’ clean energy development in Belgium.
