On Wednesday, Dariusz Marzec said that the selection of the general contract was a key step in the implementation of the Zarnowiec project. He also said the the BESS facility won a contract in the capacity market auction for 2029 – a procurement exercise which has catalyzed gigawatts of battery storage projects in the country.

Once commissioned in 2029, the Żarnowiec project will help balance the output of onshore and offshore wind farms and enhance the stability of the Polish electricity grid.
