TWAICE announces over 15 product enhancements to optimize battery energy storage systems

The company continues to roll out new insights and analytics into battery data to help stakeholders understand and extract revenues from their battery assets.

TWAICE, a provider of predictive analytics software for battery energy storage systems (BESS), today unveiled more than 15 significant product enhancements. These updates aim to help BESS operators manage increasing data volumes, system complexity, and changing market demands by improving the connection between technical operations and financial results.  

A key new feature is the Penalty Risk Assessment tool, designed to help operators avoid costly penalties by providing clearer insights into State of Charge (SoC) issues. This tool offers SoC limit recommendations based on actual system behavior, which is an improvement over potentially inaccurate estimates from battery management systems (BMS). By using these insights, operators can more reliably deliver power during peak price periods, prevent penalties, and maintain asset value over the long term.

The company highlighted four new features that address significant operational challenges:

  • Maximizing Availability: New Usable and Recoverable Energy Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) help operators quickly identify and address issues affecting system availability and performance. Integration with Modo Energy’s financial platform allows operators to directly link hidden energy loss to its revenue impact, facilitating smarter asset management.  
  • Protecting Long-term Asset Profitability: Enhanced Roundtrip Efficiency (RTE) monitoring now includes inverters and transformers, providing visibility beyond just the batteries. This allows for early detection of performance degradation that might otherwise be missed for months.  
  • Managing Warranty and Contractual Risks: A customizable Warranty & Guarantee Tracker, linked to over 50 KPIs, enables proactive compliance monitoring and provides predictive alerts before thresholds are breached, which can save costs and prevent disputes.  
  • Speeding Up Operational Decision Making: Improvements to Automated Reporting deliver customized, detailed insights on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis, ensuring relevant teams receive timely information.  

These innovations were developed in collaboration with TWAICE customers, such as BW ESS, a major operator of large-scale energy storage assets.
