Green Flexibility and Enertrag plan 130 MWh battery storage system in Germany

Enertrag and Green Flexibility will implement their first joint battery storage project in the municipality of Tantow in northeastern Brandenburg. The system will have a power capacity of 60 MW and a storage capacity of 130 MWh. The companies announced on Monday that commissioning is planned for early next year.
The project is currently in the final planning phase, though building permits have not yet been obtained. The battery storage system will be constructed on a 4,000-square-meter site in close proximity to an Enertrag substation. Both companies have established a joint venture for the construction and long-term operation of the facility.
The goal is to make renewable energy more efficiently usable with the storage system. Excess electricity from photovoltaic and wind power plants will be stored and fed back into the grid later when needed. This approach aims to improve grid stability and reduce curtailment of renewable energy installations.
