Italian independent power producer (IPP) Vexuvo has announced the sale of a portfolio of Italian standalone battery energy storage system (BESS) projects with a total capacity of 1.5 GW, to London-based peer ContourGlobal.

The buyer already has more than 100 MW of solar projects in the country and pv magazine Italia last week reported on two Italian BESS acquisitions by ContourGlobal with a total capacity of 1,598 MW.

The nationwide portfolio sold by Vexuvo includes authorized projects that will participate in the MACSE auction on Sep. 30, and other under-development sites that the seller and buyer will work on over the coming months.
