Grenergy locks in 20-year Georgia Power 400 GWh 100% PPA for its Beaver Creek hybrid project
Spanish developer Grenergy has signed a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with Georgia Power for 100% of the output from its Beaver Creek project in Baldwin County, Georgia, USA. The PPA is estimated at around 400 GWh per year.
The project comprises 229 MW of solar and 183 MWh of battery storage. Commercial operation is expected in Q3 2028, with the PPA taking effect May 2029. Battery market operations will be handled by Georgia Power under the utility’s Clean and Renewable Energy Subscription (CARES) 2023 program.
Publishing the PPA’s expected contracted volume is unusual. Most developers announce PPAs without disclosing GWh figures, and the 400 GWh per year number gives the market a cleaner read on revenue visibility than is typically offered, and signals confidence in the agreement under public scrutiny.
Grenergy has been in the US market since 2022, operating out of Birmingham, Alabama. Its current US portfolio includes 1.2 GW of solar, 1.7 GWh of hybrid projects, and 2.3 GWh of standalone storage. Its two operating storage assets are in Texas, dubbed Stadium and La Feria, both 25 MWh.
“Energy demand in the United States is growing at an extraordinary pace, mainly driven by AI,” said CEO David Ruiz de Andrés. “We are seeing very clear opportunities to develop projects with strong returns and value creation potential, especially in the Southeast.”
