JA expands energy storage footprint with multiple JAPlanet deployments across Europe

Since its introduction at the end of 2025, the JAPlanet battery energy storage system has seen strong early uptake, with multiple systems already installed in Italy, Germany, the Netherlands, and Lithuania, alongside a confirmed pipeline of additional projects across Europe.

Designed for medium- to large-scale C&I installations, JAPlanet is a 261 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery with a compact, modular design, scalable up to 5.2 MWh per site. It forms part of a fully integrated solar-plus-storage offering developed to help businesses increase solar self-consumption and enhance the value of installed PV assets.

In Italy, JA has partnered with installation specialist Noon srl to deliver a series of large-scale commercial installations in Sicily. These include ten JAPlanet units deployed at an aquaculture facility, eight units at a 200-bedroom hotel in Palermo, and a further ten units at municipal sites in Catania.

In Germany, JAPlanet is gaining traction across a variety of C&I sectors, supported by distribution partner SegenSolar Germany. Early deployments include a mixed agricultural operation in Straelen, which combines dairy farming with feed and vegetable production.

In the Netherlands, JA is working with wholesaler GWS Energy to distribute multiple battery systems across a range of C&I sectors, including logistics, agriculture, retail, real estate and EV charging hubs.

Finally, in Lithuania, several JAPlanet systems are currently under deployment, representing more than 3 MWh of total capacity. Among these is a newly commissioned 0.5 MW / 1.044 MWh solar-plus-storage system at a drinking water production facility, designed to enhance on-site energy flexibility and support more sustainable water production.

These projects also include some of the first examples of JA’s “PV + Storage + X” model, which combines solar generation and battery storage with specific industry applications (“X”) to deliver tailored, sustainable energy solutions. In these deployments, the battery is managed by a locally developed energy management system, which supports peak load management and operational stability while also maximising renewable energy use.

Alastair Mounsey, Vice President Europe at JA, says, “The response to JAPlanet has been extremely positive, with rapid adoption across several key European markets and a growing pipeline of projects throughout the region. This reflects a shift in how C&I customers are approaching energy, as they move towards greater self-consumption, cost control and resilience. Increasingly, solar needs to be paired with storage to unlock its full value, particularly as businesses respond to rising energy prices, grid constraints and dynamic energy markets. This strong early demand underlines the growing importance of integrated PV and storage solutions as a core part of Europe’s energy transition.”
