SECI seeks 1.2 GW of renewable energy with four-hour storage
SECI has launched a tender for 1.2 GW of renewable energy projects, connected to the interstate transmission system (ISTS) and coupled with energy storage systems (ESS). It aims to deliver 4,800 MWh of assured peak power daily.
The projects will be developed on a build-own-operate (BOO) basis and are intended to supply dispatchable renewable electricity during peak demand periods.
SECI will sign 25-year power purchase agreements (PPAs) with successful bidders and will sell the procured power to distribution companies and other buyers across India.
Developers will be responsible for building the renewable energy generation assets, energy storage systems, and associated transmission infrastructure up to the delivery point. Land acquisition and grid connectivity are within the developer’s scope.
Projects may be located anywhere in India, although the renewable energy generation assets and energy storage systems must be co-located.
Bidders must submit a single proposal with a minimum contracted capacity of 50 MW and a maximum of 600 MW. Capacity awarded to any bidder group will be capped at 600 MW.
