Tesla deploys 13.5 GWh of energy storage in Q2

Tesla deployed 13.5 GWh of battery energy storage worldwide in the second quarter of 2026 and has scheduled its earnings webcast for July 22.

Tesla has announced it deployed 13.5 GWh of energy storage capacity across the globe in the second quarter of 2026, up 53% from the 8.8 GWh the company deployed in the first quarter and up 40% compared to the 9.6 GWh deployed in the second quarter of 2025. 

The second-qaurter deployments represent Tesla’s second-largest quarterly total to date, falling just shy of the 14.2 GWh deployed in the fourth quarter of 2025.

The latest energy storage installations bring Tesla’s total deployments to more than 132 GWh since 2016, placing the company on a trajectory to exceed its 2025 deployments, as predicted by Tesla representatives in the company’s first-quarter earnings call.

The immense growth in Tesla’s deployment numbers mirrors the broader US energy storage market. A recent report on the outlook for the US energy storage market from the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) and Benchmark Mineral Intelligence asserted that the United States has entered a “new phase of sustained, high-volume deployment” in energy storage, noting a 30% year-over year increase in deployments in 2025.

For the first quarter of 2026, Wood Mackenzie noted total US deployment of 8.4 GWh in energy storage capacity across all sectors, a 41% increase compared to the first quarter of 2025.

Tesla concurrently announced the date and time of its second-quarter financial results webcast, which will be held at 5:30 p.m. (ET) on July 22, 2026, on the Tesla investor relations webpage.

Energy storage deployment is certain to be a topic of great interest to investors on the Tesla call, along with news on the state of Elon Musk’s 100 GW solar manufacturing ambitions and an update regarding the recent agreement Tesla inked with Sunrun and Renew Home to offer 16.8 GW of flexible power output to hyperscalers and grid operators through a VPP.
