Aypa Power selects Canadian Solar’s e-STORAGE for 2.12 GWh of battery storage in Canada
Canadian Solar has announced that its e-STORAGE subsidiary, which supplies battery energy storage systems (BESS), has entered into agreements, including supply and long-term service agreements with fellow Canadian-based company and renewables developer Aypa Power for the Elora and Hedley battery energy storage projects in Ontario, Canada.
Combined, the two projects are set to provide 420 MW of power and 2,122 MWh of capacity to Ontario’s grid. In March 2025, Aypa Power ordered 1.8 GWh of batteries from e-STORAGE for projects in California and Texas.
Both projects in Ontario will deploy e-STORAGE’s SolBank 3.0 product under 20-year long-term services agreements that include “continuous monitoring, preventive maintenance, and performance guarantees,” said Canadian Solar.
Delivery is said to be scheduled to commence in the first quarter of 2026, with commercial operation expected in the first half of 2027.
Moe Hajabed, CEO of Aypa Power, commented, “The Elora and Hedley projects represent critical investments in Ontario’s energy system, providing the flexible capacity needed to meet rising demand and maintain a reliable grid.”
Colin Parkin, President of e-STORAGE, added, “These projects will provide reliable capacity through the IESO’s Long-Term 1 (“LT1″) Resource Adequacy framework and reaffirm our long-term commitment to the Canadian market.”
