Grenergy inaugurates 3.5 GWh battery project in Chile, expands Atacama plans
Spanish independent power producer (IPP) Grenergy has commissioned a 3.5 GWh battery energy storage facility in Chile's Antofagasta region and outlined plans to expand its Oasis development platform to 2.5 GW of solar and 14.1 GWh of storage.

250 MW grid booster battery breaks ground in Germany
TransnetBW, the transmission system operator in the German state of Baden-Württemberg, has celebrated the official opening of the Netzbooster construction site in Kupferzell. The 250 MW battery-based energy storage system, supplied by Fluence, will help increse the utilisation of the electricity grid, reducing the need for network reinforcement and expansion.
1.4 GW Xiamen pumped storage project connected to the grid
The No. 4 unit of the State Grid Fujian Xiamen Pumped Storage Power Station has successfully passed project acceptance, marking the full commissioning of the power station. The project was designed by the East China Survey and Design Institute and built by the China Hydropower No. 14 Engineering Corporation.
Entergy, NextEra Energy Resources join forces on 4.5 GW of solar and storage
In the U.S., energy utility company Entergy and the energy provider Nextera Energy Resources have announced a joint development agreement, which the two companies say will accelerate the development of up to 4.5 GW of new solar generation and energy storage projects.

Nova Scotia gold mine could host PV-plus-pumped hydro storage energy hub
A new partnership will investigate the viability of colocating a closed-loop pumped hydro energy storage facility with solar PV at the site of a former gold mine in Moose River in the Canadian province of Nova Scotia. Atlantic Mining, owner of the mine, and Natural Forces, a renewables company with 300 MW of operational capacity in Canada, are optimistic the project will be feasible.

Colbún proposes 800 MW desalinated water-powered pumped storage project in Chile
Chilean utility Colbún has unveiled plans for a massive pumped storage hydropower project in northern Chile. The facility will use desalinated water from the Pacific Ocean to store energy and use it when it's most needed.
Large scale battery storage on the rise in Chile
Three utility scale battery energy storage projects collocated with solar plants were announced last week in Chile. Enel is building a 67 MW/134 MWh battery, while CJR Renewable and Uriel Renovables are planning 200 MW/800 MWh and 90 MW/200 MWh projects, respectively.
