The Mobility House Energy surpasses 1 GW of battery storage under management

The Mobility House Energy, a Germany-based energy trader, says it now markets more than 1 GW of battery storage capacity across 47 projects in four countries, including nearly 30 co-located solar-plus-storage installations.

The Mobility House Energy, a battery storage aggregator and energy trading firm in Germany, added four battery storage projects in June, bringing the portfolio it optimizes and trades to more than 1 GW across 47 assets in four countries. Nearly 30 of the projects combine battery storage with PV generation.

It said increasing numbers of negative electricity price hours and falling feed-in tariffs are strengthening the business case for co-located storage. Batteries can shift solar output into higher-value evening periods while reducing curtailment and helping lower redispatch and grid expansion costs.

The company said it has developed extensive experience in the design, optimization and operation of co-location projects through the deployment of nearly 30 such systems.

The Mobility House Energy has been active in battery optimization and trading since 2016, when it aggregated around 12 MW of capacity from 1,000 retired electric vehicle batteries. Early projects included the battery system at Amsterdam’s Johan Cruijff ArenA and a multi-use second-life storage project at Berlin’s EUREF campus.

Since then, the company said it has expanded its aggregation and trading capabilities through its FlexibilityAggregator and FlexibilityTrader platforms, which optimize storage assets across electricity and ancillary services markets in real time.
