WOOD & Company, Delta Capacity complete 70 MW/160 MWh BESS
Ånge Storage Solutions AB said it brought a 70 MW/160 MWh battery energy storage project in central Sweden from procurement to commercial operation within 15 months, with the system providing grid flexibility to SE2, one of the country’s four electricity price zones.
The two-hour duration system was acquired as a ready-to-build asset from RES in February 2025. Delta Capacity served as co-investor and engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) manager, leading the project from design through commissioning, the companies said.
Sungrow supplied the battery system, Stenger & Ibsen Construction served as balance-of-plant contractor, and Rejlers provided construction management support. Green Power Monitor supplied the energy management system and supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) platform, while Solvina handled grid code compliance and Ellevio served as grid owner. Centrica Energy will act as the project’s trading and dispatch optimizer, providing round-the-clock services, according to the companies.
Lars Björklund, chairman of the board of Ånge Storage Solutions AB, said the project was the product of an exceptional partnership led by Delta Capacity’s team. “As renewable generation accelerates across the Nordics, this is exactly how grid-scale storage needs to be delivered: at speed, at scale, and through genuine collaboration,” Björklund said.
“For WOOD & Company Renewables Sub-Fund, Ånge represents a high-quality asset in a strong regulatory environment, delivered by best-in-class project partners in construction, operation and electricity trading,” said Robert Doucha, investment director at WOOD & Company Renewables Sub-Fund.
Patrik Hes, CEO of Delta Capacity, said the Nordic energy transition is accelerating and requires infrastructure that can keep pace. He said Sweden has strong renewable resources but lacks sufficient flexibility, which the Ånge project aims to address with 160 MWh of storage delivered in 15 months. He added that Delta Capacity plans to continue expanding its pipeline at greater speed and scale, as the transition is time-critical.
WOOD & Company Renewables Sub-Fund, established in 1991 and headquartered in Czechia, has a net asset value of €76 million ($86.3 million). Its portfolio includes a 42 MW solar plant in Romania, the Ånge BESS, and two battery storage projects under construction in Finland.
Delta Capacity, founded in 2022 and based in Switzerland, has nearly 800 MWh of storage under construction and is targeting more than 6 GWh of flexible assets in operation by 2030.
