Engie inaugurates its first battery system connected to a wind farm
The storage system is located next to the Kallpa Wind Farm in the municipality of Taltal, Antofagasta Region, and has a capacity of 57 MW / 285 MWh. This initiative is part of Engie Chile's strategy to expand its renewable energy and storage portfolio in the country.

UK: Elements Green secures debt for 720 MWh battery, Gresham House bags equity for BESS project augmentation
The UK developer has reached financial close on a £140 million ($188 million) facility for its 360 MW/720 MWh battery storage asset. The facility has been provided by Private Credit at Goldman Sachs Alternatives. Meanwhile, Gresham House Energy Storage Fund has secured equity investment for the augmentation of its Glassenbury Battery Project. The UK's largest listed fund investing in utility-scale battery energy storage systems plans to embark on another seven augmentations in 2025 and early 2026, funded through refinancing.
Lithuania expands energy storage scheme amid overwhelming interest
Additional funding has been approved by the Ministry of Energy and Environment to support its ongoing energy storage procurement program, following overwhelming interest from potential beneficiaries. Meanwhile, Trina Storage has secured the first 180 MWh of battery storage projects in the country, marking the initial phase of its newly agreed gigawatt-hour-scale BESS portfolio in the Baltics.
Italian carbon battery company Energy Dome partners with Google
The US online giant wants 'carbon-free' operations by 2030 and has invested an unspecified amount in Energy Dome as well as identifying a pipeline of global sites for the company's long-duration energy storage (LDES) 'carbon batteries.'

Voltwise: Extend German grid fee exemption for large batteries to 2034
Germany's Federal Network Agency is consulting on a proposed overhaul of its grid fees to introduce a General Grid-Fee System (AgNES). Battery energy storage systems (BESS) are currently exempt from the charges and Voltwise's head of German operations, Thorsten Klöpper, is suggesting a three-stage system which takes account of battery-related grid benefits.

Australian TSO plans 5 GW of grid-forming batteries
The 185 MW/370 MWh Koorangie battery energy storage system (BESS) – whose Tesla Megapacks offer grid-forming capability – has come online in the state of Victoria days after transmission system operator Transgrid highlighted the importance of such sites for New South Wales (NSW).
