SolarEdge rolls out its C&I storage range in the UK market

The storage and inverter manufacturer seeks to tap into the nascent commericial and industrial (C&I) storage market in the United Kingdom. Its European C&I storage range will be available in Great Britain from January 2025.

SolarEdge is debuting its new commericial and industrial (C&I) battery and inverter cabinet the Solar & Storage exhibition in Birmingham, England. The commericial solar system (CSS) line is SolarEdge’s first battery and inverter cabinet range designed for such applications.

Speaking to ESS News at the exhibition Christelle Barnes, UK Country Manager, SolarEdge, said the CSS-OD will be available to UK customers from January 2025, while the CSS-ID will be available “in the middle of next year.”

The CSS-OD battery is billed by SolarEdge as suitable for outdoor and indoor applications, while the CSS-ID is designed for indoor use.

The CSS-OD comprises a 102.4 kWh rated battery cabinet with a 50 kW inverter, scalable to a total capacity of 1 MWh per site, according to SolarEdge. CSS-ID offers 66.6 kWh capacity.

Barnes said SolarEdge is now “actively talking” to customers about its commercial storage offer ahead of the 2025 rollout for the UK market. Both cabinets also make use of SolarEdge ONE for C&I, the manufacturer’s cloud-based energy optimization platform.

Solar & Storage UK also saw SolarEdge bring the single-phase variant of its next generation hybrid inverter solution to a European trade show for the first time.

Unveiled at the RE+ show in the United States on Sept. 10, the residential solar and storage unit integrates a scalable lithium ion phosphate battery with a solar inverter rated up to 11.5 kW. The SolarEdge All-In-One can be scaled with up to four battery modules, meaning up to 17.6 kWh of capacity, up to four batteries per inverter for a capacity of 70.4 kWh and up to three inverters per site, for a total of 211.2 kWh.

SolarEdge has been active in the United Kingdom since 2010 and Barnes told ESS News the Israel-hedqurtered business is “very committed” to its presence in its growing storage market. “We have an existing network of installers that we work with, and actually we first had a storage offering in this market since 2015, so we’ve been building on it and building on it, educating our partners, supporting them, training them and bringing new solutions to the market for almost ten years.

“It’s just progressing and progressing, the attachment rate, the adoption rate of storage is increasing all the time but it’s a market we’ve been active in for a while,” she said.
