Deye BK series energy storage microinverter for balcony storage released

Deye has announced new energy storage microinverters specifically designed for balcony solar and storage scenarios.

Deye, a supplier of PV inverters and ESS, has announced the launch of the new SUN-BK60/80/100SG01 series of energy storage microinverters, specifically designed for balcony solar scenarios.  

This product supports on-grid, off-grid, and AC-coupled setup and features battery ports that allow direct connections to compatible batteries, addressing the energy storage needs of balcony setups. The trend towards balcony solar storage reflects a shift in home energy solutions towards greater efficiency and convenience. 

  1. Split-body Design: From Microinverter to Energy Storage 

The BK series energy storage microinverter features a split-body design, consisting of a base module and an upgrade module. This configuration allows users the flexibility to start small. 

If you are still undecided about committing to a full energy storage system, begin with the Base Module, which can be used independently as a standard microinverter. When connected to photovoltaic panels, it forms an on-grid balcony solar system.  

When you are ready, simply incorporate an Upgrade Module and battery to transform the system into an energy storage solution. Two sets of DC ports on the Base Module are for battery connection, and two sets of photovoltaic ports on the Upgrade Module are for panel connections. An independent Load port allows for direct connection of backup loads, ensuring continued power supply during off-grid conditions for emergency needs. 

  1. System Upgrade: Retrofit Existing Setup 

If you already have a balcony photovoltaic system, adding a Deye wireless Current Transformer to the BK microinverter allows for an easy upgrade to an energy storage system without the need for communication cables. You can harness excess power generated by your existing setup to charge the battery. 

When paired with a Deye smart plug, any standard socket can become a smart socket, enabling remote control through the Deye cloud. You can also set automated conditions that activate when photovoltaic generation is abundant, automatically powering on the plug. In off-grid mode, the system intelligently shuts off non-essential loads to prevent AC overload and rapid battery depletion. 

  1. LoRa Communication: Experience Instant Performance 

Deye’s wireless Current Transformer and wireless Smart Plug leverage LoRa communication, requiring no traditional communication cables. LoRa devices boast shorter wake-up times and reduced communication latency, ensuring instant responsiveness.  

In contrast, Wi-Fi devices may experience delays and longer wake-up times due to data routing through cloud platforms. Such latency can hinder stable operation of household energy systems. Should the network fail, Wi-Fi devices may stop functioning, while LoRa devices will continue executing essential tasks and local commands. 

  1. Cost-Effective Energy Management: Maximize Savings and Efficiency 

The BK series energy storage microinverters provide highly adaptable smart electricity usage functions. Similar to Deye’s hybrid inverters, you can divide the 24-hour day into up to six adjustable periods for optimized charging and discharging control.  

This allows solar power to significantly reduce household electricity consumption, decreasing reliance on grid-sourced power. Any excess photovoltaic energy is stored in the battery for use at any time. You can also pre-charge the battery during low electricity price periods, ensuring you benefit from reduced rates during peak pricing.
