Austrian renewables and e-mobility investor Renalfa IPP has announced it intends to integrate 1 GWh of (BESS) into the 258 MWac solar plant it purchased in Romania at the close of 2024.

Renalfa acquired the solar site, in Teleorman county, as part of its “strategic commitment to advancing sustainable energy solutions across Central and Eastern Europe (CEE),” the company stated in a press release on Jan. 6, 2025.

Commercial operation at the Teleorman site is expected in 2027. Renalfa did not reveal the price of the PV site acquisition nor state when it intends to have the associated BESS operational.

“We are thrilled to finalize the acquisition of this landmark project in Romania,” said Renalfa spokesperson Nikola Antonov, quoted in the press release. “This project is a testament to our commitment to driving the energy transition in the CEE region and delivering innovative renewable energy solutions that address the challenges of tomorrow.”
