The renewable energy division of India’s National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) secured the largest, 300 MW slice of solar generation capacity in the NHPC procurement exercise, by offering a price of INR 3.09/kWh.

Jindal India Renewable Energy, with 180 MW of solar; Rays Power Infra, with 150 MW; and ONIX Renewable, with 100 MW, all made the same successful bid price.

ReNew Solar secured 300 MW of generation capacity, and Adani Renewable Energy 170 MW at a price of INR 3.10/kWh.

NHPC will sign 25-year power purchase agreements with the selected bidders and the electricity generated will be sold to state utilities or other clients.

The winning developers will build, own, and operate the projects, which can connect to the interstate transmission system from anywhere in India.
