India’s Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd and state-owned ONGC have signed a memorandum of understanding to explore BESS market opportunities.

The partners signed the agreement at this week’s India Energy Week 2025 event in New Delhi, in the presence of Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri.

Tata and ONGC will explore commercial opportunities from utility-scale BESS, grid ancillary services, renewable energy integration, microgrids, commercial and industrial energy storage, backup power provision, stored-energy trading, electric vehicle charging infrastructure, and clean energy sites hybridized with energy storage.

Steelmaker Tata’s clean energy division recently commissioned a 100 MW solar plant with a 120 MWh BESS at Rajnandgaon, in Chhattisgarh.
