British renewables developer Pacific Green Technologies has sold its LCNEP to Sydney-based Intera Renewables for an enterprise value of AUD 460 million.

The LCNEP 250 MW/500 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) is one of two co-located battery parks near Mount Gambier, 450 km southeast of Adelaide in South Australia.

Pacific Green CEO Scott Poulter said the Limestone Coast North site is a template for the responsible development and financing of utility-scale storage in Australia.

Buyer Intera Renewables is majority owned by funds managed by Australian infrastructure business Palisade Investment Partners.

Palisade Executive Director Simon Parbery said the company looks forward to partnering with Pacific Green on delivering the project, “all the way through to commissioning and operations, providing both sustainable long-term returns to Intera’s investors and supporting Australia’s energy decarbonisation ambitions.”

Notices to proceed have been issued to Spanish company Gransolar Group, as balance-of-plant contractor for everything apart from the battery system. Gransolar will begin construction this month with commercial operations targeted for February 2027. China’s Trina Storage will supply the BESS.

Pacific Green will continue its involvement in the project as construction manager, directing Gransolar and Trina, and will provide supply chain management and quality assurance.

A long term energy offtake agreement has been secured from Sydney-based Zen Energy for the electricity to be stored at the site.
