Government body the Solar Energy Corp. of India (SECI) has secured an electricity offtake agreement from the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) for a 125 MW/500 MWh BESS awarded to developer JSW Energy in a SECI tender.

JSW Energy secured the grid-connected, standalone project at a competitive bid of INR 441,000/MW/month.

JSW Energy will develop, operate, and maintain the BESS in Kerala with the primary objective of making it available to KSEB for charging and discharging of the BESS on an on-demand basis.

The project is eligible for viability gap funding.
