Entrix expands into Italy, strengthening its European presence in the battery storage market

Following successful projects in Germany with partners such as Aquila Clean Energy EMEA and MEAG, and its recent entry into Poland, the company now aims to establish a strong presence in Southern Europe. A local office in Milan is planned to support this expansion.
Italy Opens the Door to Long-Term Storage Revenues
Entrix’s entry into Italy is driven by increasing demand for advanced trading solutions and the growing importance of flexible assets within the country’s energy system. The newly introduced MACSE mechanism (Mechanismo di Adeguatezza della Capacità del Sistema Elettrico) creates long-term capacity contracts that explicitly recognize the role of battery storage. This regulatory framework offers a more predictable path to monetization, making it a key driver for battery investment. This model is complemented by ongoing activity in short-term electricity markets (MGP – day-ahead, MI – intraday, MSD – dispatching services), where BESS operators can unlock additional value through dynamic trading strategies.
Tailored Commercialization Models for the Italian Market
Entrix will offer tailored commercialization strategies based on project type. This includes compliance-oriented models for MACSE participation, fully automated merchant trading solutions, and hybrid structures that combine fixed and market-based revenues. Beyond its offering, Entrix supports developers and investors throughout the entire project lifecycle. This includes early-stage strategy definition, regulatory alignment, technical integration, and long-term performance optimization. Entrix works closely with its clients to tailor commercialization models that reflect each project’s asset profile, risk appetite and market conditions. Drawing on its experience in Germany, the company also supports the structuring of bankable offtake agreements such as floor price models and tolling arrangements to reduce revenue volatility and improve financing conditions.
Steffen Schülzchen, CEO and founder: “The combination of MACSE and short-term market access makes Italy particularly attractive for flexible commercialization models. Our goal is to support storage operators as they navigate this new market design – with flexible trading solutions that support projects from integration to long-term performance.”
With the appointment of Michele Pissarello as Country Manager Italy, Entrix gains an experienced energy professional with more than 20 years in the industry and deep knowledge of the Italian energy market.
“Many project developers in Italy are looking for a commercialization partner who understands the technical side, but also the market’s dynamics. That’s exactly where Entrix brings value: with an automated, market-aligned solution”, says Michele Pissarello.
